Free spool and baitrunner reels

Free spool reels are the most popular style for carp fishing in the UK. They feature a secondary drag system that allows line to peel off the spool with almost no resistance when a carp picks up and moves off with the bait, preventing the rod from being pulled into the water before you can strike. A turn of the handle instantly re-engages the main drag. Big pit reels

If you're fishing larger reservoirs or gravel pits and need to cast at distance, step up to a 10000–14000 big pit reel for greater line capacity and range.
